Below are a few tips to help you be best prepared for your Newborn Photography Session.
Please remember, we want to photograph you precious new one between 5-10 days after birth. It is best if you contact us before the little one arrives so that I can note your due date in my calendar. However, we won't actually pick a shooting date until the little one arrives. Just contact me after birth and I will send you some time/date options.
I will come to your home so that you don't have to get out with the baby since they will be so tiny. Parents and siblings are welcome to join in on our session as well. Since newborns are very unpredictable so I don't limit shooting time for these sessions. We need to make time for snuggling, comforting, feeding, etc.

Please don't hesitate to call or email me if you have any specific questions or concerns.
I'm always here if you have any questions at all before our session. Thanks!

- Please try and keep baby awake and stimulated prior to the session as much as possible so that they are ready to sleep when we get started.
- If you like nude pictures, please have baby in only a diaper but swaddled in a blanket (so they are warm) for a short period before the scheduled session time. This will avoid marks on the baby’s skin from clothing.
- If possible make sure the baby has a full belly before I arrive.
- After the baby is full, make sure they are burped really well. Gas can take a sleepy, happy baby to an uncomfortable, irritable one in seconds.
- Please don’t worry if the baby isn’t doing exactly what we want. We have to be really patient with the little ones. Sometimes newborns can take several hours to get comfortable. If the baby gets fussy or won’t sleep for us, don’t stress out. Babies can sense our anxiety keep the environment as relaxed and calm as possible. We will try and get the baby comfortable again, but if that just doesn’t seem possible, we’ll take a break or we’ll work with what he/she is giving us.
- Please allot at least 2 hours for the session. Newborns need lots of love/cuddling/feeding so we take our time between shots to make sure that all of baby’s needs are met. Baby’s comfort is priority number 1.
- A mother’s smell is so recognizable (and sometimes distracting) to a baby, that it may be necessary for the mom to leave the room if we are having trouble getting baby to sleep. This is not meant to hurt your feelings, but sometimes baby can smell mom and it triggers the need to want to eat or be cuddled my mom.
- If there is ever a point where you’re uncomfortable with the poses, please let me know. I only want to do poses and shots that you are comfortable with. If you have specific poses or ideas that are important to you, please let me know that also so we can make sure to get those done first.
- Clothing for Mom and Dad - Keep it simple. Throw in a pop of color if you’d like, but skip the busy patterns. Knit cloths tend to photograph best, but that definitely isn’t a must.
I'm always here if you have any questions at all before our session. Thanks!
